District Representative

New York State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick is currently seeking an energetic, astute, diplomatic, and dedicated individual to fill a full time position as a District Representative in the District office located in Nanuet or Ossining. District Representatives work directly with the Senator's constituents to resolve their specific issues. They are responsible for finding solutions to individual constituent issues, resolving incoming casework quickly and with quality, and for making sure constituents leave the Senator's offices feeling satisfied and supported by the Senator's team. This role is a mix of social work, research, and constituent service. This dynamic role will include the following
Responsibilities:
oAct as representative for the Senator within his or her area of responsibility including answering casework correspondence, meeting with constituents, verbal communications with constituents, and serving as a liaison with federal, district, and local agencies oRespond to constituent telephone calls and mail oDocument visitor opinions on issues communicated via telephone, including full name, address, and all relevant information as appropriate oHandle casework assignments oAct as a liaison to local, state and federal officials and other persons or groups to form effective relationships for the Senator oAssess casework for problems requiring legislative action and makes recommendations to the Legislative Director and Chief of Staff oAttend meetings in the district with the Senator, and on their own, with constituents oScreen and refer cases, when appropriate, to other district offices oTrain and supervise Staff Assistants, including interns, to handle office matters such as logging incoming and outgoing correspondence, handling visitors, telephone calls, and computer operations oLog in all incoming and outgoing mail and incoming telephone calls relating to casework oMaintain a good working relationship with the Senator, staff, and constituents

Salary Range:
From $40000 to $50000 Annually
Minimum Qualification
The minimum requirements for this position:
oBachelor's degree in social work, political science, or a related field of study oExcellent oral and written communication skills oStrong empathy and listening skills, with excellent ability to problem-solve oWork a flexible schedule including occasional nights and weekends when after-hours event attendance is required Additional competencies preferred:
oSocial work background oProficiency in Spanish oProficiency in Haitian Creole oResidency in close proximity to district offices in Nanuet and OssiningEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
